42nd Annual John Reid Memorial Bantam AAA Hockey Tournament
January 16th - 19th, 2020
St. Albert, Alberta
The John Reid Memorial Bantam AAA Hockey Tournament is one of the premier events of its kind in North America. The tournament is named in honor of long-time St. Albert resident John Reid, who was a passionate player, coach, and supporter of the game. Celebrating its 42nd year, this invitational tournament will feature 16 top-caliber Bantam AAA teams, and the 2020 edition is expected to be extremely competitive. The tournament will be held at Servus Credit Union Place’s three arenas, including the 2000-seat Go Auto Arena.
Last year’s event featured top-level hockey by all competitors including teams from Western Canada and the Western United States. This year’s crop is also expected to be very strong. The 2019 JRMT champions were the Detla Academy (Green). The John Reid Memorial Bantam AAA Tournament is one of the most scouted events of the hockey season and last year over one hundred junior scouts, managers and coaches attended the event. Over 130 participants in this event have gone on to play in the National Hockey League, including Jonathan Toews, Jarome Iginla, Matthew Barzal, Tyson Barris and Colton Parayko.
In addition to the hospitality offered by the City of St. Albert, The St. Albert Raiders Hockey Club, The St. Albert Sabres Bantam AAA Hockey team and the JRMT organizing committee, teams successful in their application to participate in this event can expect:
Admission fee for this tournament will be $2900 CDN, and will be payable immediately upon acceptance into the event. For Western Canadian based teams, there will be an online application available on our website, www.johnreidmemorial.com. Team selection will be based on various criteria; however the primary determining factor will be the team’s win-loss record within their league, the relative strength of the league they are playing in and success in tournament play. Successful teams will be determined by a Selection Committee including past members of the JRMT organizing committee, current WHL scouting / management staff and members of the St. Albert Raiders Hockey Club executive. It is the Committee’s expectation that the tournament will be made up of only elite Bantam AAA teams.
A finalized list of teams accepted will be determined in mid to late November, 2019.
International teams may be offered early acceptance, due to travel considerations. Shortly after the final acceptance date, information packages will be forwarded to successful applicants. Please visit our Tournament website located at: www.johnreidmemorial.com or contact one of the undersigned individuals directly. Good Luck to all applicants and thank you for your interest in this event.
